Welcome to Pentridge Community Garden

Pentridge Community Garden is a large community garden located within the historic Pentridge Prison precinct in Coburg, in Melbourne's inner north.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land that the garden rests on, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and pay our respects to their elders.  We also thank Shayher Group, the developers of the Pentridge precinct, who have set aside the garden site for use as an urban garden.

Pentridge is different to most community gardens.

We garden together, planting and maintaining the garden and sharing the produce at our weekly working bees. It’s a lovely way to meet neighbours and friends and there is often something tasty to share.

New members are always welcome and there are lots of ways to get involved: Memberships

Garden Open Times   The garden working bees are on Sunday, from 10am to 1pm in summer, and 1pm to 4pm in winter. The change roughly coincides with daylight saving changes. Notification is done on our members facebook page. Members can of course come to work in the garden at any time by themselves or with other members.

Starting from Sunday 13rd of April 2025, hours will be 1pm to 4pm.

Members please note the lock godes for the garden gates and the shed were changed on Sunday 20th July 2025. Please check your recent email from the committee for the new codes.
